Hundreds of supporters welcomed the 'Virar ka chokra', as Govinda is popularly known, with garlands and placards.
The 40-year old star, who came from a middle class family that lived in a Virar chawl, has more than 100 films to his credit today.
His late mother, Nirmala Devi, whom he idolises, was a suppporter of the Congress party.
People throng to see Govinda. They carry placards reminding him of his days in Virar.
