March 26, 2004 10:20 IST

An Iraqi woman was gagged and robbed of $49,000 by two armed persons inside a hotel in Sahar area of Mumbai early Friday, police sources said.

Samiya Royala Hanif Ali Hussein Ali (40) was alone in her room when an armed person entered the room through a window.

After brandishing a knife, the looter gagged Samiya and opened the door to let his accomplice in.

The woman told the police that the two later dumped her in the bathroom and locked the door from outside, before escaping with the cash.

Samiya later alerted her husband, who had gone out for some official work, the sources added.
