Golden Temple pond being cleaned

The Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee on Thursday commenced cleaning operations at the sacred tank of the Golden Temple in Amritsar in the presence of thousands of devotees.

The operations commenced in the morning with former Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, Akal Takht jathedar Joginder Singh Vedanti, SGPC chief Gurcharan Singh Tohra and SGPC secretary Manjit Singh overseeing the activities.

According to the SGPC, women, young boys and girls and old people are participating in the kar seva (voluntary service) with over 100,000 devotees having reached the temple town from all over the world.
