At least five persons were injured on Tuesday night in an explosion in a compartment of the New Delhi-bound Poorva Express at Fathua, 25km from Patna, a senior railway officer said.

The train originates in Howrah (West Bengal) and was headed for Patna in Bihar when the incident occurred. The train managed to reach Patna Station.

General Manager of East Central Railway R S Varsney told PTI that the cause might have been a bomb placed in the luggage of a passenger in one of the sleeper coaches. The exact nature of the explosive is yet to be ascertained.
