All India Institute of Hygiene and Public Health, Admission Notice

Applications are invited from candidates for admission to the following courses affiliated to the West Bengal University of Health Sciences and conducted by the All India Institute of Hygiene and Public Health. The courses in DPH, DMCW and DIH will commence from Monday, May 3, 2004 and those on ME (PH), Dip diet, DHE and DHS from Thursday, July 1, 2004.

Each application form should be accompanied by a crossed demand draft for Rs 400 in favour of 'West Bengal University of Health Sciences' payable at Kolkata.

Last date for receipt of completed application forms by the University is March 22, 2004.

The admission test for the DPH, DIH and DMCW courses will be held on April 11, 2004 and that for Dip Diet, DHE and DHS will be held on June 6, 2004.

· Diploma in Public Health

· Diploma in Maternity & Child Welfare

· Diploma in Industrial Health

Duration of each course is two academic years.

Eligibility criteria: Medical graduates (MBBS) of any University recognized by the University of Calcutta and registered with the State Medical Council/MCI and having completed one year's compulsory rotating internship subsequent to passing the MBBS examination.

· Master of Engineering in Public Health

Duration of the course is two academic years.

Eligibility criteria: Bachelor degree in civil dengineering or its equivalent as recognised by the University of Calcutta. Candidates sponsored by central, state, local government and semi-government organisations would get priority in the matter of admission to the course.

Sponsored candidates should collect the application forms from and submit them to the Advisor, CPHEEO, Ministry of Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation, Government of India, Nirman Bhawan, New Delhi 110 011.

Non-sponsored private candidates who have qualified in the GATE examination and non-governmental sponsored candidates may also collect the application forms from and submit them to the Director, All India Institute of Hygiene and Public Health, Kolkata.

Government/Semi-Government sponsored outstation candidates approved by the CPHEEO, Ministry of Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation, Government of India are likely to get a stipend of Rs 2,000 per mensum from CPHEEO. There is no provision for stipend for non-governmental sponsored candidates.

 · Diploma in Dietetics

 Duration of the course is one academic year.

Eligibility criteria: i. Medical Graduates (MBBS/BHMS) of any university recognised by the University of Calcutta and registered with the respective Council or ii. University degree with Physiology or Chemistry or Clinical Nutrition with Dietetics as one of the subjects or iii. degree in Home Science or Nursing from a recognised Institution or University.

· Diploma in Health Education

Duration of the course is one academic year.

Eligibility criteria: Medical Graduates (MBBS/BHMS) of any university recognised by the University of Calcutta and registered with the respective Council or Bachelor degree in Arts, Science, Education or Nursing from any recognised university.

· Diploma in Health Statistics

Duration of the course is one academic year.

Eligibility criteria: Medical Graduates (MBBS/BHMS) of any university recognised by the University of Calcutta and registered with the respective Council or candidates, who have passed the BA or BSc examination with Mathematics or Statistics as one of the subjects from a recognised university.

Students joining the diploma courses who are non-sponsored will be paid a stipend of Rs 800 per month. The stipend is likely revised.
