March 08, 2004 15:58 IST

The Indian Air Force will undertake its largest ever firepower display at Chandan air ground range at Pokhran, in the heart of the Thar desert, on March 14 in the presence of special invitees.

The exercise, codenamed Vayu Shakti, will see all the fighter aircraft in the inventory of the IAF, including the just inducted Su-30MKI and midair refuellers would display their precision strikes.

This, an IAF spokesman said, would be for the first time that the force would put up a firepower display in a phased manner to showcase in its capability in the air defence, battle field interdiction and close air support.

The firepower demonstration, which is being held for the first time since 1999, would also witness an aerobatic display by the Surya Kiran team.
