March 01, 2004 15:56 IST

A prostitution racket, allegedly run by a lawyer in Gomtipur area of Ahmedabad, was busted on Sunday by the local police.

Two persons, including the alleged kingpin, have been arrested.

Three Mumbai-based girls, who were in the city for the past three days, have also been detained, Additional Commissioner of Police Keshav Kumar said.

The police stumbled upon the accused while conducting a combing operation late on Sunday as a precautionary measure for Muharram.

A case under the Immoral Activities Act has been registered against the accused.

More arrests are likely in the case, Kumar added.
