Alert: CET for admissions to BPT, BOT, BPO

Admission notice

Applications are invited on the prescribed form for the Common Entrance Test for admission to the following professional bachelor courses of four-and-a-half years duration:

Bachelor in Physiotherapy (BPT)

Bachelor in Occupational Therapy (BOT)

Bachelor in Prosthetics & Orthotics (BPO)

The entrance examination will be held at Allahabad, Aizwal, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Dehradun, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mumbai, Ranchi and Srinagar on Sunday, July 25.

Eligibility
Applicants should have passed their XII class examination or its equivalent under the 10+2 system with five subjects, with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and/or Mathematics and English.

Applicants should have secured 50 per cent marks in PCB for BPT and BOT courses and 50 per marks in PCB or PCM for BPO course (40 per cent in the case of SC/ST and physically handicapped candidates).

Age
Less than 17 years and not exceeding 22 years as on July 31, 2004.

Reservation
In each of these courses, 15 per cent of the seats are reserved for SC candidates, 7.5 per cent for ST candidates and one seat for a physically handicapped person.

The prospectus and application form may be obtained on payment of Rs 400 for general category and Rs 300 for SC/ST/PH candidates from the centres mentioned below or by post by sending a demand draft for Rs 450 for the general category or Rs 350 for SC/ST/PH category, along with a self-addressed unstamped envelope (12 x 28 cms) to the Director, National Institute for the Orthopaedically Handicapped, BT Road, Bon-Hooghly, Kolkata -- 90. The DD should be drawn in favour of NIOH, payable at Kolkata.

The application form can also be downloaded from the Web site www.niohonline.org. Applicants who download the form should submit the demand draft of the prescribed fee along with the filled-in form.

The duly completed application form, with the necessary certificates, should reach the Director, NIOH, B T Road, Bon-Hooghly, Kolkata -- 90 on or before July 9.

Important dates
Last date for the sale of the application form: June 9

Last date for the receipt of the form: July 9

Entrance examination: July 25

The results will be declared by July 30 and may be seen/downloaded from the Web site.

The above schedule may be changed due to unavoidable circumstances at the discretion of the chairman, CET.

For transparency/fairness and quick declaration of results, the examination will be held online. It is advisable for the candidate to have a working knowledge of computers. Candidates can see the demonstration/online examination procedure at our Web site.
