"I am sure Mrs Gandhi will get a very warm reception in Pakistan," Kasuri said when asked about President Pervez Musharraf's invitation to Sonia to visit Pakistan.

Kasuri said Sonia is the chairperson of the ruling United Progressive Alliance and "we respect her as such and she will be treated in a way as is worthy of the leader of the governing party."

Kasuri said his government would like her to visit Pakistan when it suits her. "Earlier, both her son [Rahul] and daughter [Priyanka] had visited Karachi [to watch an Indo-Pak cricket match]. They had  received a warm response from the crowd," he said.
