Shamima Jahan Sheikh, mother of Ishrat Jahan Sheikh, who was killed along with three others by the Gujarat police, arrived in Ahmedabad on Friday morning to claim her daughter's body.

Shamima, who came along with her relatives, is expected to meet Crime Branch officials before heading for the Civil Hospital to claim the body of her 19-year-old daughter, official sources said.

The family resides in Mumbra in Thane district of Maharashtra. The Gujarat police killed Ishrat and the others on June 15 claiming they are Lashkar-e-Tayiba (LeT) terrorists and were planning to assassinate state Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

Doubts have been raised over the Gujarat government's claim and the Maharashtra government on Thursday ordered a probe to ascertain whether the girl, who studied in Mumbai's Khalsa College, had any links to criminals or terrorists.
