BJP was against masjid demolition

June 18, 2004 14:00 IST

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday told the Liberhan Commission that it was against demolition of the Babri masjid at Ayodhya.

"No conclusions can be made out that the BJP and its leaders were involved in the alleged conspiracy to destroy the disputed structure," BJP counsel Satya Pal Jain said in a written submission before Justice M S Liberhan, probing the events leading to the demolition on December 6, 1992.

He said the demolition was unfortunate and uncontrolled.
