TRS to join government in AP

June 15, 2004 15:38 IST

The Telengana Rashtra Samithi, an ally of the Congress in Andhra Pradesh, is all set to join the Congress government in the state.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Rajashekhar Reddy told reporters that TRS, which fought the assembly election in alliance with the Congress, would join the government on June 21.

He also said that one of the Rajya Sabha seats in the state, for which elections will be held on June 28, would go to the Communist Party of India (Marxist).

There is speculation that CPM politburo member Sitaram Yechuri will be the candidate.
