Maoists ban Hindi movies in central Nepal

Maoist rebels have banned plying vehicles with Indian number plates and screening of Hindi movies in several districts in central Nepal from June 15 to 21.

According to The Kathmandu Post, Tamang Swayatta Krantikari Janaparishad, a Maoist-affiliated organisation has issued a statement prohibiting the screening of the Hindi movies and movement of Indian vehicles in the districts of Makawanpur, Dhading, Nuwakot and Rasuwa to protest against the arrest of their leaders by Indian security forces.

Indian forces have recently arrested some of the central leaders of the CPN-Maoist, including Hit Bahadur Tamang, chief of the Tamang Swayatta Pradeshik Janaparishad.
