Bride burgles house of in-laws, flees with lover

June 12, 2004 23:52 IST

In a rather bizarre incident, a newly-bride looted valuables from the house of her in-laws and fled with her lover, police in Gorakhpur said on Saturday.

A railway guard had married off his son Ritesh to one Sarika from Siwan in Bihar.

On the night of June 10, the newly-wed bride mixed some intoxicants with the food she served to her in-laws. While they were deep in sleep, she escaped with valuables and jewellery worth Rs 260,000 with her old lover.

When the in-laws got up the next morning, they found that Sarika was missing and so were the valuables and the jewellery.
