NTR's son held; readmitted to hospital

June 06, 2004 13:29 IST

Popular Telugu actor and son of former chief minister N T Rama Rao, Nandamuri Balakrishna, allegedly involved in a shootout, was on Sunday arrested from a hospital in Hyderabad and readmitted there after being produced before a judge.

Balakrishna was taken into custody at about 0330 IST and whisked away through the rear door.

He was produced before the fifth Metropolitan Magistrate, who ordered the police to produce him again on Monday.

An attempt to murder case has been registered against Balakrishna for allegedly opening fire at a film producer, B Suresh, and his friend Satyanarayana Chowdhary on Thursday night, leaving both injured.

The judge ordered the police to take Balakrishna to another hospital but later accepted his plea to readmit him to the same place.
