Kumbakonam toll goes up to 94

With the death of one more boy in the small hours of Wednesday, the toll in the July 16 fire tragedy in Kumbakonam has risen to 94, according to Thanjavur district Collector Dr J Radhakrishnan.

Eight-year-old boy Vignesh, a student of Class III at the Saraswati School, succumbed to burn injuries at around 2.30am.

Sixteen children are still undergoing treatment in various hospitals, including 12 in the Government Hospital in Kumbakonam, two in the Apollo Hospital in Chennai and one in Madurai.
