Gangrape: Couple traced; brought back to Seoni

July 26, 2004 18:27 IST

Locating the couple, who had allegedly eloped from Bhomatola village leading to a conflict between two communities and subsequent gang rape of three Dalit women, Madhya Pradesh police have escorted the duo from Nagpur and kept them confined at the Seoni Kakar, Harijan Police Station.

The couple was traced yesterday while investigating a missing persons complaint lodged by the families on July 4 and a case registered at Kanhiwada police station, the police said.

Thirty-two persons have been arrested in connection with the alleged gang rape of three women of the boy's family, which took place as a retaliatory measure on July 8, the police added.
