Bus strike hits normal life in Kerala

July 26, 2004 11:06 IST

Normal life was disrupted throughout Kerala after private bus operators began an indefinite strike demanding a hike in fares.

The Kerala State Bus Operators Federation had called for a strike demanding a fare hike in view of the hike in petroleum prices in the last three years.

Early reports said over 20,000 buses went off the road after talks initiated by the government a fortnight back failed to avert the strike.
