Police have arrested a youth and are searching for two of his accomplices in connection with the rape of a teenaged girl from Uttar Pradesh, who was lured to Mumbai by a desire to meet film actors.
The girl arrived from Uttar Pradesh on Monday. Mustafa Abdul Sattar, a resident of Ganeshnagar in suburban Bandra, allegedly lured the girl by assuring that he personally knew several heroes and heroines and would introduce her to them, police said.
He took her to several places in the locality and said that the actors stayed there. Late on Tuesday afternoon, Mustafa allegedly took the girl to Bandra Band Stand where he was joined by two of his friends. The trio raped the girl and fled.
After the girl filed a complaint, police located Mustafa and arrested him while his friends are absconding. The Bandra police is investigating the case.
