Former Pakistan Army Chief  Gen. Jehangir Karamat is likely to be appointed as its envoy  to Washington to succeed Asharf Jahangir Qazi who has been  appointed as UN special envoy to Iraq.

Musharraf succeeded Karamat as the Chief of Army after  the latter quit following differences with then Prime Minister  Nawaz Sharif over the constitution of the National Security  Council, comprising the top brass of the army, navy and air force.
