Another Yavatmal farmer commits suicide: VJAS

A cotton grower from Loni village in Yavatmal district on Monday allegedly committed suicide in his own field apparently frustrated by crop failure and non-availability of any government assistance, the Vidarbha Jan Andolan Samiti claimed in Nagpur.

The deceased has been identified as Pandurang Kolhe from Loni. With this, the toll has gone up to 13 in Yavatmal district alone, a release from Samiti president Kishore Tiwari said.

The number of farmers' suicide in the region, apparently frustrated over damages to crops due to the delayed monsoon and increasing debt, has gone to 22.

The Nagpur Divisional Commissioner has ordered a probe into the alleged suicides by four farmers in the division in recent days.
