Lalu wants pay cut for 'disruptive' MPs

"Unlike the Congress, the Communists and the RJD [Rashtriya Janata Dal], who frequently disrupted the proceedings of the House during the six-year rule of the Vajpayee government, the NDA believes in the smooth functioning of Parliament...the NDA will perform its duty conscientiously," a resolution, adopted at a specially convened meeting of NDA MPs in New Delhi on Tuesday morning said.

The meeting was chaired by NDA chairman and former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

The opposition had disrupted parliamentary proceedings repeatedly in the last session of Parliament and again on the first day of the Budget session demanding the removal of 'tainted ministers' from the Manmohan Singh government.

Briefing reporters after the meeting, Leader of the Opposition Lal Kishenchand Advani said the protest against 'tainted ministers' will continue through other means outside Parliament.

Among those who attended the meeting were Bharatiya Janata Party president M Venkaiah Naidu and senior BJP leaders Sushma Swaraj, Jaswant Singh and Vijay Kumar Malhotra.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday had met Vajpayee and Advani to resolve the stalemate in Parliament over 'tainted ministers.'
