Mulayam, Amar Singh call on Advani

January 17, 2004 13:54 IST

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav today met Deputy Prime Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani and apprised him of the law and order situation in the state. Yadav was accompanied by Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh, sources said.

The meeting came in the backdrop of the continuing agitation in parts of Uttar Pradesh against the Samajwadi Party-led coalition government's decision to scrap nine districts created by the previous Bahujan Samaj Party-led government.

The two Samajwadi Party leaders yesterday met Agriculture Minister Rajnath Singh to discuss the issue of sugarcane prices in the state.

They were later expected to call on Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to apprise him of the political situation in the state.
