'Wanted to dissolve LS on December 31'

Onkar Singh in New Delhi | January 16, 2004 12:53 IST

The government wanted to call a special session of the Lok Sabha on December 30 and 31 to table a vote-on-account and dissolve the House, Deputy Prime Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani said in New Delhi on Friday.

"The finance minister [Jaswant Singh] was asked for his comments and he told us that he could not be ready with a vote-on-account in a short span of less then a week and hence the idea was dropped," he said.

He refused to say if the government has now decided when to convene the House.
