January 15, 2004 17:39 IST

The Gujarat police on Thursday arrested Delhi-based businessman Sajal Jain, prime accused in the Ahmedabad gang-rape case.

Jain was flown to Ahmedabad, where he will be produced in a court, police sources said.

Jain, accused of raping a 24-year-old woman along with three of his friends on New Year's eve in Ahmedabad, was traced to a private hospital in New Delhi, where he had been admitted with food poisoning.

Jain reportedly told the police that he was not involved in the crime, the sources said.

He, however, admitted that the woman was with him till 0200 IST on January 1, the sources said.

The police on Wednesday took his blood sample for DNA testing to ascertain whether he had raped the woman, who subsequently committed suicide.
