Hundreds pay homage to Hegde

Hundreds of mourners paid their last respects to veteran politician and former Karnataka chief minister Ramakrishna Hegde, who died in Bangalore on Monday after a protracted illness.

Supporters and state political leaders came in a steady stream, as his mortal remains were kept for public viewing.

Karnataka Governor T N Chaturvedi and Kannada thespian Rajkumar were among those who came.

The last rites will be performed with full state honours at his farmhouse on the outskirts of the city in the afternoon, family sources said.
