Now, Thane cops raid dance bars February 29, 2004 00:15 IST After the Mumbai Police, it is now the turn of the Thane Police. In simultaneous action that took place at various places all over the Thane city and adjoining Kalyan, Dombivali, Bhiwandi areas, the police also confiscated a large amount of property, an official release said. The cops raided several dancing bars and lodges where flesh trade was rampantly going on, and arrested six persons. It also raided 10 matka dens and arrested 50 persons besides seizing property worth Rs 58,000. A raid on illegal single-digit lottery business in Naupada led to seizure of a large stock of single-digit lotteries worth Rs 79.30 lakh and arrest of 14 persons. The operation also led to the seizure of illicit countrymade liquor worth Rs 102,000 while it was being transported out of Thane. The action was taken in the Wagle Estate, Thane city, Naupada, Dombivali, Kalyan, Vishnu Nagar, Bhoiwada, Vartak Nagar, Narpoli, Ulhas Nagar, Ambernath, Bhiwandi police station jurisdictions.
