Talking to reporters at Naidu's residence, Jitendra said, "I will wholeheartedly campaign for the Bharatiya Janata Party under the leadership of Vajpayee. Neither I want a position nor would I contest elections. I only want to contribute to the nation's development."

The Bollywood star, who has been in the film industry for about four decades now, said he has never campaigned for any political party so far.

Jitendra said he had campaigned for former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Digvijay Singh and Union minister Vinod Khanna only due to his friendship with them.

BJP general secretary Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and party chief whip in Rajya Sabha S S Ahluwalia were among those present on the occasion.
