School in trouble after snipping students' hair

February 17, 2004 20:48 IST

Twelve Class X students of Saint Soldiers International School, Sector 26, in Chandigarh lodged a police complaint after their teacher trimmed their hair.

The physical education teacher was following orders from the school's principal.

Principal Sudesh Chaudhry admitted before reporters that it was a mistake. She, however, added that the drastic step was taken as a last resort.

The students were asked on several occasions to cut their hair short, but they had refused to comply, she said.

None of the students or their  parents were available for comments.

Station House Officer Jarnail Singh at Sector 26 confirmed that the students have lodged a complaint.
