Jayanti Chamar repeatedly stabbed his wife Leela (30) and two daughters -- Parul (6) and six-month-old Raju, killing them on the spot on Monday, Surendranagar Deputy Superintendent of Police V J Gautam told PTI.

Later, he inflicted severe injuries in his abdomen, Gautam said. He was taken to Surendranagar Civil Hospital, where his condition is critical.

The incident comes barely five days after a man allegedly killed his five daughters by throwing them into the Narmada river in Bharuch town of South Gujarat.
