Raghu remanded in judicial custody till Jan 12

Raghu, the younger brother of the junior Shankaracharya of Kanchi mutt, Vijayendra Saraswati, and arrested in connection with the Sankararaman murder case, was remanded in judicial custody till January 12 by a Kanchipuram court on Friday.

When Raghu was produced before Judicial Magistrate-I G Uthamaraj in the afternoon, the prosecution produced documents supporting its claim that money transactions had taken place after the murder.

The special team investigating the murder of Sankararaman on September 3 had arrested Raghu on Thursday night on the basis of the documents.

The senior seer, Jayendra Saraswati, has been accused of masterminding the murder. He was arrested on November 11. Raghu is the 24th person to be arrested in connection with the case.

Earlier in the day, eight other accused were also produced before the magistrate and their custody was also extended till January 12.
