EC adviser begins probe into Lalu's case

December 22, 2004 11:59 IST

Election Commission adviser K J Rao on Wednesday began probe into the alleged violation of the model code of conduct by Rashtriya Janata Dal president and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad in distributing cash to dalit women at Bihta, Patna, last week.

Rao, accompanied by Patna District Magistrate Goutam Goswami, went around Patna enquiring about hoardings, banners and posters that had been put up for the RJD's December 23 rally, a day after it was cancelled.
