Zaheera's mother alleges Teesta threatened her December 15, 2004 15:46 IST Sehrunnisa Sheikh, mother of prime witness in the Best Bakery case, Zaheera Sheikh, on Wednesday alleged that social activist Teesta Setalvad had threatened to kill her.
Zaheera had created a stir when she accused Teesta of pressuring her to identify innocent people as accused in the Best bakery case. Her statement came as a shock to many because the trial was shifted to Mumbai after Zaheera and her mother complained of threats from the accused in the case. A mob had attacked the bakery on March 1, 2002, at the height of the Gujarat communal riots, killing 14 people.
