Musharraf, Blair to meet on Monday

December 05, 2004 15:18 IST

Issues like tackling terrorism and strengthening bilateral ties are expected to figure in Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf's talks with British Prime Minister Tony Blair in London on Monday.

Musharraf will begin his two-day visit to the UK from Monday, his first official visit to the country, according to Pakistan High Commissioner to London, Maleeha Lodhi.

Earlier, he was in London in November 2001 and June 2003.

Musharraf is visiting Britain at the invitation of Blair.

After the talks, the two leaders will hold a joint press conference.

Besides meeting Blair, Musharraf will address the Pakistani community in London at two places and visit the Royal College of Defence.

British Chief of Army Staff, Sir Michael Walker, is scheduled to call on Musharraf.

The Pakistan president is also scheduled to address parliamentarians in the Gladstone Room of the House of Commons on Tuesday before visiting the International Institute of Strategic Studies, a leading think-tank in London.
