The Indian American Republican Committee organised the event to illustrate the community's growing influence in the Republican Party.
If the attendance of prominent Republicans -- Congressman Joe Wilson; Senator George Allen; Tom Gallangher, chief financial officer for the state of Florida; and Renee Moore, chair of the Republican delegation from Pennsylvania -- was anything to go by, the event had served its purpose.
