Geelani placed under house arrest August 20, 2004 11:17 IST Separatist leader and chairman of the breakaway All-Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, was on Friday placed under house arrest, official sources said in Srinagar. Geelani was confined at his Hyderpora residence after a police team reached there early morning, they said. A spokesman of Geelani, meanwhile, alleged that the government was putting curbs on his movement. The separatist leader was scheduled to attend the funeral prayers of militant commander Manzoor-ul-Islam, who was killed in an encounter with security forces on Wednesday night, he said.
