Rains kill five in Jaipur

August 13, 2004 16:07 IST

Three persons drowned and two were electrocuted in the incessant rains in Jaipur on Friday, police said.

Rajasthan's capital recorded the decade's heaviest rainfall of five inches in one day.

Water in Chandman reservoir had crossed the danger mark at Phagi in the district, the police said, adding a warning had been issued.

Sixteen reservoirs in the state were full and 30 others were about to be filled up if the catchment areas continued to receive rain, an irrigation department spokesman said.
