CBI files charge sheet in Bilkis case

The Central Bureau of Investigation on Monday filed charge sheet against 20 people, including six policemen and two doctors, in the Bilkis Yakub gangrape-cum-massacre case.

The charge sheet was filed in a designated court at Dhoad near Ahmedabad, under sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 302 (murder) and 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code.

Out of the 20 people, 14 are in the judicial custody.

The cops were booked for allegedly entering into a criminal conspiracy, suppressing and destroying evidence, and falsifying records, sources said.

The investigation into the case started afresh as per the direction of the Supreme Court.
