At least 60 people were injured in a grenade explosion in the crowded main market in Pulwama, 40 km from Srinagar, on Monday afternoon.

Police said unidentified militants tried to target a passing army convoy in the Pulwama market this afternoon when the grenade missed the target and exploded on the road.

The condition of eight of the injured is stated to be critical. They are being treated at the sub-district hospital in Pulwama.

No militant group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
