Tarnished Gujarat cop's appointment to CBI challenged

The Supreme Court on Monday issued notices to the Centre, Gujarat Government and the Central Bureau of Investigation on a petition challenging the appointment of former Ahmedabad police commissioner P C Pandey as Additional Director in the CBI.

The petition alleged that Pandey, being morally responsible for the carnage that took place in 2002 during the post-Godhra riots, should not have been appointed to such a senior post.
