Theft of Tagore medal: One held

A former part-time employee of the Visva-Bharati University has been arrested in connection with the theft of Rabindranath Tagore's Nobel Prize medal and other memorabilia from Rabindra Bhavan in Santiniketan on March 25.

Pradeep Bauri, 27, a former contract gardener at the University, was detained from neighbouring Bolpur area on March 29 after his fingerprints matched those found at the site of the crime.

Additional Director General of Police R K Mahanti said Bauri has been handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation for further investigation.
