The first indigenously manufactured Sukhoi-30 MKI will roll out of the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited factory in Nasik by the end of 2004 or early 2005.

The indigenous production of Advanced Jet Trainers -- BAe Systems Hawks for which India is signing a Rs 8 billion contract -- will be in Bangalore, HAL Chairman N R Mohanty told rediff.com in Monday.

HAL is modifying its facilities in five plants for the production of the multi-role advanced SU-30 MKI. The technology was transferred to HAL under the bilateral agreement with Russia for the purchase of the aircraft.

Mohanty said the engine for SU-30 MKI would be produced in Khoraput plant, while its electronics and some other parts would be made at units in Lucknow and Hyderabad. The main airframe will be manufactured in Nasik, from where the aircraft will also roll out, he said.

He said the existing Russian assembly lines for the MiGs and other facilities would be upgraded to manufacture SU-30 MKI.
