Mata Amritanandamayi's followers call her Amma or Ammachi. The diminutive 'saint' says she does not belong to any particular religion; 'the universal mother,' as her devotees have christened her, says her religion is love. She expresses that love through her hugs. Her followers say that, in the past 30 years, Amma has physically embraced more than 21 million people.

Amma says: When we take everything as God's will, all our burdens are taken away.
