No case for war against Iraq: Senator Kennedy

September 19, 2003 11:33 IST

With the Bush administration failing to come up with evidence that Iraq possessed Weapons of Mass Destruction, critics are increasingly using strong words to describe the invasion.

On Thursday, Senator Edward Kennedy said the case for going to war against Iraq was a fraud, made to gain political mileage for the Republicans, adding the Bush administration had failed to justify its case for conflict.

The senior Democrat questioned the manner in which the administration was using the $4 billion that the war is costing the US each month, expressing fears that parts of it may have been used to bribe world leaders to send troops to help the US maintain its hold over Iraq.
