Pakistan cooperating against Al Qaeda, Taliban: US

September 18, 2003 09:22 IST

Pakistan is fully cooperating with the US in action against the Al Qaeda and Taliban operating from its territory across the Afghan border, White House press secretary Scott McClellan has said.

"Pakistan is a strong ally in the war on terrorism. They have been working closely with us to go after terrorists who may be crossing the border," McClellan said on Wednesday.

He was responding to suggestions by reporters that the Al Qaeda and Taliban, thrown out from Afghanistan, are now operating from Pakistan, with the Taliban recruiting more followers.
