Gujarat Congress legislators suspended from assembly September 11, 2003 21:33 IST Last Updated: September 11, 2003 21:34 IST Congress members in the Gujarat assembly were on Thursday suspended by Speaker Dr Mangaldas Patel from participating in rest of the sittings of the House following pandemonium over placing a Video Compact Disc reportedly depicting the alleged lathicharge on agitating farmers in Valsad recently. The house, which met after 30 minutes adjournment on the issue, again witnessed pandemonium when Congress members continued to insist on 'showing' the VCD, placed by Congress member Bharatsinh Solanki, who is also deputy leader of the opposition. Parliamentary Affair Minister Ashok Bhatt raised a point of order and demanded suspension of all the Congress members from participating in the proceedings for the remaining sittings of the current monsoon session. Heated exchanges continued between the BJP and Congress members even after the house met after adjournment, forcing the Speaker to suspend the Congress members for the rest of the session.
