JOINT MANAGEMENT ENTRANCE TEST 2003

Admission to postgraduate degree programmes in Management at IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras and IIT Roorkee, for the academic year 2004-2005 will be open only to those who qualify in JMET-2003.

JMET is the first step in the process of admission to the following Post-Graduate Degree Programmes in Management:

PROGRAMMES:

· IISc Bangalore: 2-year full time Master of Business Administration, MBA, programme.

· IIT Bombay: 2-year full time Master of Management, MOM, programme. 3-year part time Master of Management, MOM, programme for Working Professionals.

· IIT Delhi: 2-year full time Master of Business Administration, MBA, programme, with focus on Management Systems.
2-year full time Master of Business Administration, MBA, programme, Telecommunication Systems Management.
3-year part time Master of Business Administration, MBA, programme with focus on Technology Management for working executives.

· IIT Kanpur: 2-year Master of Business Administration, MBA, programme.

· IIT Kharagpur: 2-year Master of Business Management, MBM, programme.

· IIT Roorkee: 2-year regular Master of Business Administration, MBA, programme.

ELIGIBILITY: Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent, or a Master's degree in any discipline from a recognized Institute/University are eligible to appear for the JMET examination. Criteria for admission to the individual institutes are given below:

IISc Bangalore: BE/BTech or equivalent in any branch of engineering with at least Second Class.

IIT Bombay: A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering with First Class or Post graduate degree in Science with First Class for the 2-year full-time MOM programme. For 3-year part time MOM programme for working professionals, in addition to these requirements, at least three years of relevant work experience by 3rd week of July 2004.

IIT Delhi: 60% marks in aggregate (of all the years/semesters) or 6.75/10 CGPA in Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Pharmacy/Agricutlural Engineering. or Master's degree in Commerce, Economics, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Application, Electronic Science, Environmental Science, Operations Research, Computational/Information Science, Agriculture for the 2-year full-time MBA programme. Additionally, at least two years of relevant work experience required by August 1, 2004 for 3-year part-time MBA programme for working executives.

IIT Kanpur: BE/B.Tech. in any branch of engineering or equivalent with at least First Class.

IIT Kharagpur: First Class Bachelor's degree in any branch of Engineering/Technology or Master's degree in Science (with Mathematics or Statistics at Bachelor's level) or First Class Master's degree in Economics/Commerce (with Mathematics or Statistics at Bachelor's level).

IIT Madras: BE/BTech or equivalent with First Class or equivalent from a recognised Institution or University. A Master's Degree with First Class or equivalent in any discipline from a recognised institution or University. Final year students are also eligible to apply. Such candidates, if selected, will be admitted provisionally, provided they complete all requirements for the qualifying degree before July 15, 2004 and produce provisional certificate on or before September 30, 2004.

IIT Roorkee: BE/BTech or equivalent with First Class or equivalent from a recognised Institution or University. A Master's Degree with First Class or equivalent in any discipline from a recognised institution or University. Final year students are also eligible to apply. Such candidates, if selected, will be admitted provisionally, provided they complete all requirements for the qualifying degree before July 15, 2004 and produce provisional certificate on or before September 30, 2004.

Note: Candidates appearing for final examinations for the qualifying degree (or equivalent) can also apply.

Reservation: 15% seats for SC and 7.5% seats for ST candidates are reserved. Reservation for other categories is as per the Government of India Rules.

JMET Test Centres:

IISc Bangalore Zone: Bangalore, Davangere, Hyderabad, Kurmool, Surathkal.

IIT Bombay Zone: Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Nagpur and Pune.

IIT Delhi Zone: Chandigarh, New Delhi, Jaipur and Jalandhar.

IIT Guwahati Zone: Durgapur, Guwahati and Patna.

IIT Kanpur Zone: Bhopal, Indore, Kanpur, Lucknow and Varanasi.

IIT Kharagpur Zone: Bhubaneswar, Kharagpur, Kolkata, Raipur, Ranchi, Rourkela and Visakhapatnam.

IIT Madras Zone: Chennai, Ernakulam, Trichirapalli and Vijayawada.

IIT Roorkee Zone: Agra, Bareilly, Roorkee and Shimla.

Test Date and Time: The JMET-2003 will be conducted on Sunday, December 14, 2003, between 10.30 am and 12.30 pm. The test date and time will not be changed under any circumstances.

JMET brochure and application forms: JMET application forms may submitted either ONLINE Internet-based or OFFLINE (by POST). ONLINE submission can be made by accessing any of the web sites given below and following carefully the instructions given therein for submitting the application and for paying the application fee.

Information about the eligibility, programmes, test centers, test structures etc is also available at these web sites. Candidates are advised to apply online for obtaining faster response on application status. Online option also ensures error free post-submission processing of the applications.

For sending the application by post (OFFLINE submission), brochure and application form can be obtained in person/by post from GATE office of the zone in which the test center selected by the candidate is located.

Issue of JMET brochure and application forms,and access to web site application form starts from September 10, 2003


Last date for:

a. Request for application form by post:  September 10, 2003.

b. Issue of application form at Bank counters/GATE office counters:
October 14, 2003.

c. Online submission of applications:
October 14, 2003.

d. Payment of fee by ONLINE applications at bank branches: October 17, 2003.

c. Receipt of completed OFFLINE applications, and required details in case of ONLINE applications, at the respective GATE office:
October 17, 2003.

Date of Examination (JMET-2003): December 14, 2003.
