The Supreme Court on Monday allowed a Gujarat government appeal challenging a high court order to grant bail to four persons accused in the Godhra case.

Justice S Rajendrababu and Justice G P Mathur gave the order on the appeal, which said that since the Prevention of Terrorism Act had been invoked against Salimbhai Abdulgaffar Shaikh, Mohammed Hussein Abdulrahim Kalota, Siraj Abdullah Jamsa and Mohammed Abdul Sattar Giteli, the high court could not entertain their bail pleas.

The four were arrested for their alleged role in the attack on Sabarmati Express at Godhra on February 27, 2002.
