Gun battle on in Jammu; 2 dead

Terrorists on Saturday attacked a police party, killing two persons and injuring three in Gursai forest area of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said.

The policemen were on their way from Golata forest area to Gursai police station when they were attacked at around 1630 IST, the sources said.

In the ensuing encounter, Special Police Officer Mohammed Akaram and a civilian were killed. Those hurt were two SPOs and a constable.

Additional troops have been sent to the area and a fierce gun battle is on, they added.
