DSP named in Daler's complaint transferred

October 30, 2003 22:25 IST

A deputy superintendent of police named in a complaint filed by bhangra-pop singer Daler Mehndi alleging that Patiala police had demanded Rs 1.5 crore to keep him out of an illegal human trafficking case was transferred on Thursday.

DSP R P S Anand was transferred and posted in the Punjab Armed Battalion at Mohali, police sources said.

However, they said Anand's transfer had nothing to do with the complaint filed by Mehndi.

The sources said the DSP was transferred in connection with some other complaints, including one filed by a Punjab University professor.

The order issued by the Punjab police headquarters too said Anand was being transferred following some complaints against him, but did not elaborate.
